On June 25, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu held consultations with Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rudenko Andrey Yurevich in Beijing.

Ma Zhaoxu said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, political mutual trust between China and Russia has constantly deepened, and practical cooperation has continuously strengthened. Facing complex and severe international situations, the two sides should follow the guidance of the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, communicate and compare notes with each other in a timely manner, ensure the stable and long-term development of bilateral relations, and safeguard the common interests of the two sides.

Rudenko Andrey Yurevich said that the current Russia-China relations are at their best in history, and high-level bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields have maintained positive momentum of growth. Russia is ready to continue to work with China to deliver more outcomes in mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides agreed that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has played an important role in safeguarding regional security and stability and advancing the common development of all countries. The two sides will further strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and work for the sustained, sound and smooth development of the SCO.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
